Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We are a multicultural class with students from different parts of the world. The class is World Cultures and the grades are 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th. Most students in this class come from low-income based homes, but have an amazing willingness to learn.
The students in my class are students learning about the five continents and culture of the world in general.
They are a very curious group indeed, that are often sharing their cultural experiences and are eager to hear new ones. Most of these students have opted to learn more about the world in general rathern than just a language; they want to know more about the culture, food, and customs practiced in different corners of the world. In a few words, these are students that have chosen to learn more about the the culture because they want to, not necessarily because they have to.
My Project
Students in the World Culture class will be able to travel to distant places and see first hand cultural traits, practices and customs through a virtual reality headseat. This is a fairly new innovative opportuinity that will also allow students to travel to all continents and countries and look at historical places, cultural holidays, and important people as if they were there. It is a very unique and fun activity and students will enjoy it to the maximum because it does make them feel as if they were at the actual place.
