Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are gifted first, second, third and fourth graders in a low socio-economic area of North Texas. Our gifted program serves five elementary schools. These students come from varied backgrounds and cultures. They are talented, imaginative, and creative children; however, they all have one thing in common--they love to learn.
Some are talented young artists, others are future novelists, one of them may someday lead our country.
All of them will definitely need 21st century skills when they leave public schooling and enter into the "real world."
My Project
Our class is asking for supplies to create workstation activities: centers, task cards, games, etc. In order for these station activities to last, we need laminating pouches to make them more sturdy. The labels will be used to label stations, storage boxes and folders to store the station activities when not in use.
These stations provide students who finish early or need a little extra help, to have differentiated activities.
By adjusting the level or content, each group of students, or individual students, have exactly what they need to improve their learning.
