Help me give my students games and activities that they can do during station time in my classroom. I will use these materials to make new resources for practice.
I teach 2nd grade at a rural Title 1 school in Southwest Viginia, which was once surrounded by thriving factories. Now, with many of them closed, our families often struggle to find employment and opportunities. Currently our school is 51% free and reduced lunch.
My classroom is made up of a wonderful group of students who love learning.
We use a variety of strategies to ensure that each student is able to practice skills in the way that they learn best. I am so excited to begin this brand new year with a group of students who are so excited to learn.
My students love hands on activities and using games to help them learn and practice skills throughout the year. We love creating reading and math games to use during station time for practice. These games foster collaborative learning in my classroom.
My Project
My students participate in reading and math workstations every day in my classroom. Students can become bored very quickly when they only use worksheets to practice the skills they are learning. Reading and math games take the skills they are learning and allow them to practice in new and fun ways.

I will be able to use these items to help all learners make academic gains in my classroom. Boogie boards will be used daily to practice spelling and math concepts. With these boards we will not have to worry about markers drying out or about having to use older boards that will no longer erase.
