Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are a variety of grade levels. As a resource teacher, I support students both in and out of their classrooms.
Many of my students work below grade level and come to my classroom everyday to work hard to make gains towards grade level standards.
Some of my students come from broken families and continue to come to school, willing to learn. Our district provides all the essential materials we need; however, your help funding our projects to make an incredible space for learning is greatly appreciated.
My Project
In our class, my students are working at a variety of levels and have various needs. Some of my students need flexibility in their work place. We offer project-based learning opportunities to keep them engaged, however providing flexibility in work spaces will increase our engagement further.
Offering a variety of work space increases focus and engagement.
In fact, research has shown dramatic increases in concentration, according to Fast Company (2015), and students become more attentive when using a standing desk. A standing desk in our classroom will give my students the opportunity to find a place in our class to work standing up. The added kick bar allows them to get their wiggles out while staying focused and working.
