Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Every student at our school has a dream. Some dream of becoming football players or police officers, others want to be teachers or scientists. Students at our school are consistently encouraged by their teachers with the chant "Yes You Will!"
Every student at our K-8 school knows that in order to make their dreams come true, they must graduate from high school at a minimum.
Most of our students have obstacles in their paths, such as poverty or being English language learners. But that doesn't stop our students from working hard every day to make their dreams come true. And when our former students cross the stage on their high school graduation day, it is with great pride that our teachers tell them, "Yes You Did!"
My Project
One of my main goals as a second grade teacher is to teach my students all of their sounds. From digraphs and blends to those tricky vowel teams, there is a lot to cover! And let's face it, learning letter sounds isn't very exciting! I am always on the lookout for new ways to have my students practice different phonics skills. I think my students would absolutely love having these fun activities to work on during their independent reading stations. Tactile activities are always a big hit (how fun do those sound stamps look?!) and sometimes magnets and manipulatives are just more fun than paper and pencil! Thank you for your time and consideration!
