Word work can be challenging for some of my students. They need to experience the fun of playing with words in order to increase their knowledge in spelling and phonics so they can write sentences correctly.
My students love to play games.
They prefer to practice skills by playing a game. They enjoy working in small groups or with a partner when they are practicing or learning a new skill. My students have brainstormed a variety of ways to modify their daily assignments into a game so they can play with a classmate.
My Project
My goal for this project is provide word games to use in our "Daily 5" word work station. Activities such as Word Construction and Sentence Building will encourage my students to practicing spelling and writing sentences. These word games will allow them to talk about spelling and phonics rules with each other. Also, they will learn to become independent learners with the Hot Dots Jr. Let's Master Reading set because they will receive immediate feedback with the Hot Dots pen.
Speaking and writing are so closely related.
My students love to talk with each other. Socializing makes most activities more fun. I want to give them the opportunity to spend time conversing with their friends about word work.
