Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I trying to create a therapeutic office, where students can come and feel relaxed and talk about their feelings and issues they are dealing with. I would like office supplies such as posters, an anger management ball, social skill cards, a 10×10 carpet, a sand box for play therapy, positive charts with quotes, and books that support positive behaviors/anger management group/social skills. The students I will be working with are children who are struggling with behavioral problems. Mental health is a big issue in our country and there is a big stigma against people who struggle with this illness. It's not being addressed at a early age, and I want to be part of the team to touch and help at least one person.
My Project
This is my first time working in the school district as a school Behavioral Health Professional. I want to create a room that supports and promotes social and emotional learning and an environment where our children can come in and feel relaxed and at ease.
I want to include posters and charts in the class with motivational quotes and encouraging phrases for students to read.
I also would like to have a printer so we can print from the classroom in real-time. I would love to have a carpet so that we can get on our students' level and sometimes do play therapy.
This is my first time in the school, so anything will help.
