My students need glue and scissors for interactive notebook activities, basic school supplies like pencils, erasers, markers, tape, and staplers for every day school routines. Poster boards, paper, and laminating sheets will help with projects.
My amazing students come from multiple cities around the school. They enter the school every day and are energetic and ambitious to learn. They never let their home atmosphere stop them from becoming lifelong learners. I want to be able to say I gave each child who came into my classroom everything they needed in order to be successful. My students attend a creative arts public charter school, and I aim to give each child opportunities to excel inside and outside of the classroom.
My Project
With the funding of this project, I will be able to help challenge my students at all levels of learning.
This will be my third year teaching math and science for 6th grade, and I want to take this year's students above and beyond.
I first would like to provide students with writing utensils for repetition of practice within the classroom. I do not want students to have to worry about losing writing utensils and not being able to show their work. Having the additional math materials will allow me to group students up according to their strengths and weaknesses in their subjects and give them the chance to learn what they are having trouble with and the opportunity to teach others. Having flash cards will allow early finishers the chance to keep working on math in class and eliminate the chances of being off task and distracting others. We do a lot of work with interactive notebooks for supplemental learning opportunities. Having the basics like glue, scissors, pencils, markers, Post-it Notes, laminating pouches, and more will allow the student to focus on learning rather than not having the materials needed.
