My Students

Our classroom currently has only two computers and both are at the decade mark. My students get to visit the computer lab once a week for 30 minutes. My students are going to live in a world of ever-changing, ever-growing technology and I want to put more in their hands daily.

I teach first grade in a suburban school district.

Our school houses approximately 750 students in grades K-4. My classroom is filled with 23 high ability first graders with a thirst for knowledge. They are bright, enthusiastic learners who thrive on challenge. We work at an accelerated pace to cover both the first and second grade curricula in one academic year.

My Project

I know that an iPad in the classroom will only make my students want to learn more about how to use technology to aid in their learning. I envision the iPad being used in small reading groups or with individual students using ebooks to meet their reading needs. Students would use the iPad during math centers and to research information for the science and social studies topics we cover. An iPad in the classroom can answer the many questions my students have in their infinite love of learning.

This project is near and dear to me and my love of technology.

This will not only benefit the students I currently have, but each new batch of first graders that greets me in the upcoming years.
