Help me give my students a variety of classroom materials that will help them engage in activities that encourage a love of learning through exploration while promoting collaboration with their peers and problem solving.
My students come to school each day eager to learn and ready to be challenged with lessons that engage their minds and allow for hands on learning to take place.

We are a departmentalized team of four where my role is to provide exciting and challenging hands on lessons in Science and Math while incorporating STEM whenever possible. I teach 2 classes of math and science daily and plan my lessons around the state math standards and NGSS. I teach a total of 31 students who are truly on many different levels and come to school with many different life experiences.
Our class is a safe place where students take risks and are never afraid to make mistakes because after all, that is truly where the best learning takes place.
My Project
Every year I love to see collective collaboration happening in my classroom. Whether my students are working together to solve math problems, or finding ways to engage, explore, explain and extend their knowledge of science standards, the conversations and opportunities to work together and share ideas is essential.
An exciting way to see students immersed in their learning is to observe and listen to the conversations they have while problem solving.
The Breakout EDU concept promotes teamwork, problem solving, critical thinking, and troubleshooting through educational games. Anytime their is an opportunity to teach a concept in an unconventional way my students are always excited.
In addition to the two Breakout EDU boxes we are requesting for our classroom, I have also requested STEM resources including Classroom Science starter kit, STEM exploration building kits for swings, bridges and buildings, and also the Quizmo Math game series. These materials all support Next Generation Science Standards for third grade as well as math standards for 3rd grade. My students would be so excited to add some games and have science resources at their fingertips.
