Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My classroom is as diverse as it gets and I love it! The students I serve are from so many distant places such as Nigeria, Ivory Coast, Mexico, India, Iraq, and America. I feel like this year I have learned a lot about their cultures and their specific needs. This has allowed me to grow both professionally and as a person.
Students have also learned a lot from each other, primarily to respect and accept each other's differences.
This is something very needed in our society and of course, in America.
My Project
I am requesting one rectangular table, and two round tables for my class. Students' desks will be replaced with these tables, which will allow for more collaborative work, and face to face conversations/interactions. I am dedicated to fully implementing flexible seats, and a variety of choices when it comes to student seating. I believe that providing these tables will make a difference when it comes to learning accountability,engagement, organization, and the attainment of new vocabulary. While our classroom is currently set-up with groups of desks, students have a hard time keeping them organized, and also sometimes focusing. It is my hope to create a classroom that has all the tools conducive to the optimal learning environment.
