Working Together: Cooperative Activites For Fitness
My students need 7 various cooperative learning games to help strengthen team building, good sportsmanship and self esteem skills necessary for future development.
With the rise in technology and decline of human interaction students have become more egocentric. Because of this, skills such as cooperative learning and teamwork have been compromised. Students need to work with one another to support, brainstorm, and collaborate in problem solving situations.
We have a great student body who is very open to new ideas and always works hard.
The school is a Pre-K to third grade school in a farming community. This project will be used on all grade levels to promote teamwork and a sense of school pride. Having the students at a young age is the perfect time to instill important values that will be used as they advance.
My Project
The supplies that I have requested will all be used to promote cooperative learning, team building, and self esteem. All of the activities require at least two people or two teams. Many of the activities can be used as stations so all of the students will get to experience everything. I want the students to learn that you should always be supportive and never negative. Every person is not an expert at every skill but the more you practice the better you become. The individual games involve strategy and planning to achieve the goal. Students will learn quickly that if they do not work as a team they will not succeed.
I have read many articles about the rise of bullying especially using online social networking sites.
I believe this is a result of a lack of team building skills at an early age. The more students work together and accept each others differences the less likely they will be to taunt one another. I would like to begin this program at the start of the school year and then continue it till the end. I believe students will benefit from this program which I plan on documenting.
