I teach first graders at a Title I primary school in South Carolina. More than half of students are from low income households. My first grade classroom is a place where students can learn through questioning, collaboration, and discovery.
It is my job to create an environment that fosters learning while being active and having fun!
I am always looking for new ways to meet my students' needs and challenge them as learners. I need your help to make that happen.

My Project
Our students often work in small groups of differing ability levels. While in these groups, they need more hands-on materials to use in these groups. Dice, math flash cards, reading fluency phones, and timers are some of the materials they would greatly benefit from having access to.
By providing students with opportunities to work together, they are developing their social skills and communication skills as well as enhancing learning of the content.
Working with partners and in small groups improves the listening, speaking, and cooperation skills they will need in the future.
