My students need tables and chairs for my classroom to help create an atmosphere of discussion, group work, and cooperation.

My Students

My students consist of Freshman, Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors who study a range of courses from US History, World History, Social Problems and American Government. My historians are eager to learn about the past, present, and the future.

My students live in a rural community about 30 minutes outside of a major metropolitan city in Wisconsin.

The population of my students is very diverse in regards to socioeconomic status, interests, and personalities. The school day starts early and my learners come to school each day vibrant and ready to learn and make connections from the past to the present.

My Project

Many of my social studies classes work to help students create a deeper understanding of themselves, the world, and the perspective of others. Much of my classes are based on discussions and group work. The formal arrangement of my classroom currently includes the traditional desk and rows. There are few places my students can move to have group work opportunities that are not on the cold and dirty floor or into the hall where they will disturb other classes.

I am requesting help to fill my room with dining room tables and chairs to create flexible and comfortable seating arrangements for my students to do their work.

By moving to a "home" like atmosphere, I hope to facilitate the kitchen table type conversations that they will encounter in the future.
