Working Through Stories

Help me give my students Storyworks magazine to increase their literacy skills. I want them to be able to have a variety of things to read each month, outside of their normal reading requirements.

My Students

I love my students and their desire to learn in my classroom. They are hardworking, creative, kind, and considerate. My students come from different socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds. We truly have a diverse learning community within our classroom which gives us all an opportunity to learn from one another. We have a very strong classroom community. My students look out for and care about each other.

My students are identified as intellectually gifted and are thrilled to spend a few hours each week in my classroom enriching their minds with "think outside the box" projects.

Many of my students live in the neighborhood's low-income housing development, and their families often have fewer resources, but this doesn't stop my students' desire and ability to learn and achieve! Our "think outside the box" projects are focused around STEM lessons. My students love to figure things out and are passionate problem solvers. They love to read and enjoy working ideas out with their hands. I know they would benefit from any project that is funded through DonorsChoose.org.

My Project

My students will be able to use these magazines by reading in many ways. They can read it independently, paired reading, small groups, or whole group! StoryWorks will allow my students to have their own copies of this text, and create flexibility in reading in my classroom.

Storyworks magazine provides resources to enhance my students' learning through multiple text formats which will create highly motivated readers.

Students will be able to access Storyworks magazines at school and home allowing parents to help their child. This will be especially helpful during the time we are away from the actual school building during our "shelter in place" orders. It will enrich the love of reading.
