Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a 4th grade bilingual teacher in a Title I school in North Carolina. I teach all the core subjects and my students are expected to learn everything in both English and Spanish.
100% of the students in our school receive free breakfast and lunch through our Title I program.
Although my students may face adversities in their home life, they greet me every day with a smile and ready to give me 100%. They love to learn and own their learning. They also love to work collaboratively to help each other meet personal goals and succeed.
My Project
With the Flex-Space Balance Ball seats and padded stools, students will be able to learn in a different way. Students need an inviting classroom atmosphere and exercise are crucial to achieving just that. This project will help students move while learning. Both seating options will allow them to use their core muscles while working on classroom tasks. The ball inflator is a necessity to maintain the Space Balance Ball seats in their best condition.
Physical movement will improve learning, memory retrieval, reduce restlessness and enhance motivation.
Research shows that flexible seating has several benefits such as increased motivation and engagement, increased core strength, and creating better oxygen flow to the brain. These two seating options will give students not only brain development by also physical growth.
