Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My classroom is very diverse when it comes to students' cultural and family background. I have African American, Asian, Hispanic, Middle Eastern students that come from families with two working parents or single mothers. A high number of students receive either free or reduced lunch.
I teach in a Spanish Dual Language classroom.
90% of my students are learning Spanish as a second language. This is only their second year in the Dual Language program, but they are all beginning to understand and speak Spanish.
My Project
I want my students to explore and develop their imagination while being engaged and having fun. The vehicle building engineering center will provide students the opportunity to design and engineer cars. Working in groups or partners students will work on planning, communication and engineering skills. I also want students to be physically active and want to provide equipment for them to play while teaching them health and wellness.
My goal is to provide students not only STEM skills but also help them develop team building skills.
The materials I am asking for will be use during our Math centers to develop addition and subtraction fluency, science and during physical education time.
