The students in my class are young and bright. Each having severe autism, their personalities shine through. They all benefit from hands-on activities with auditory and gestural prompting. We enjoy creating projects and experiments which coincide with our lessons.
I want my students to succeed to the best of their ability.
By supplying them with the necessary materials they can learn through exploration and creativity. Our budget is low and its hard to supply the classroom with manipulatives for all lessons.
My Project
We work very closely with the Occupation Therapists in the classroom, however each student only receives OT 2x a week. By having occupational strengthening tasks in my classroom I can carry over the lessons taught by the therapists.
My students are going to think they are playing rather than learning!
The activities I picked out such as the Kid O Lower case, Upper case, and Number magnatabs will be engaging for my students. They will be able to work independently as well as in a group setting. Each activity is bright and engaging, they are going to love tracing, sorting, and building with these activities.
By creating a fun environment allows the students in my classroom to learn while making memories with their peers. Socialization is key for my classroom, providing them with group OT activities I am able to create collaborative teaching as well as work on occupational skills needed.
