Working in Synchronicity: Speech Therapy and Classroom Achievement
Help me give my students these resources specific to vocabulary building, sequencing and informational text to help my students with language disorders. Using these resources will help my students learn the skills necessary to enhance their overall learning.
I work with students from pre-k to 6th grade at a wonderful elementary school in beautiful Utah. My students have specific language disorders which greatly impact their ability to access the general core curriculum in the classroom.
I absolutely love working with these children who have academic challenges, but overcome them with a zest for learning and wanting to succeed in the academic environment.
I would love to be able to help foster their love of learning by obtaining learning materials to utilize in speech/language therapy .
My Project
Vocabulary in Context and Informational Text workbooks can be used with my students to enhance their overall vocabulary, reading and listening comprehension skills. These resources are directly tied to age specific core curriculum, so there will be focused vocabulary and informational texts to help kids in their social studies, science and reading in their regular classrooms.
By using these resources, there will be a direct benefit in both speech therapy and the general classroom.
I think my students will love to utilize and learn from materials that are not only relevant in the speech therapy setting but in the classroom setting as well. The ultimate goal is to work in synchronicity and bridge what is learned in speech therapy for easier carryover and fostering learning in the child's classroom setting!
