I teach 23 enthusiastic Kindergarten students. It is the first classroom experience for many of my students. My students are at an age where art, movement, and dramatic play are the most meaningful and exciting times of the day. I use these times to reinforce many concepts each day. My students come from many different cultural backgrounds. Some of my students are from low-income families who qualify for free or reduced-price lunch, some have special needs and have an Individualized Education Plan, and others are second language learners. This diverse group of learners need hands on experiences to express learning through fine motor development, personal development, and imagination.
My Project
Our listening center needs a make-over! The requested 16 working headphones are the perfect size for our Kindergarten learners! Listening centers have been known to increase the love of reading. The headphones will allow the students to listen and follow along with each recording all while building literacy skills and confidence along the way!
My students will be able to enjoy their favorite stories and gain the confidence they need to become independent readers!
Research shows that reading and listening to stories, helps young children develop language and comprehension skills, encourages thinking and problem solving as well as build vocabulary.
It is through reading and listening to stories that children at a very early age build vocabulary and comprehension skills. By supporting my project, you will reach the lives of many students for years to come.
