Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are a very diverse bunch this year that come from a title 1 school. The majority of my kids were affected from Hurricane Harvey. I have students who are in the Gifted and Talented program, students who have special needs, students who learned English as their second language, and non English speaking students!
They are so sweet and all learn so differently.
I have to differentiate like crazy! I noticed the best way they learn is through centers! We start off as whole group, but their main learning is when they are in a small group! They enjoy the hands on experience and taking learning into their hands.
My Project
Our classroom only has one main white board for whole group instruction but we do not really have one when we break into small groups. The kids LOVE small groups and do most of their learning when they work with the teacher in small groups. When the kids are with me, we have to use small hand held boards, but they cannot really see the teacher's boards. My kids have trouble seeing what I write on the small board.
My room is not arranged to hold a small group at the main white board, so it would be great to have a MOVEABLE white board from my small group instruction.
This way kids could see what I am teaching by looking at the white board and there is no questions in what I am trying to show them.
