Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach kindergarten in a rural, low socioeconomic area where life at home can be uncertain. Families often do not have access or means to provide academic activities at home for their children. They often struggle with access to technology and materials needed to continue learning at home. My goal is to expose my students to as many different learning opportunities as I can while supporting different learning styles.
My students are eager and love to learn and explore even in these challenging times.
Providing them with the tools to learn from home is essential to their growth. I want to set their families up for success as they extend classroom learning into their homes.
My Project
Schools have always been a safe haven for students. They have everything from supplies to food to love. In these uncertain times, our schools are working harder than ever to provide these things to our students.
I teach Kindergarten in a low socioeconomic area where 100% of our students receive free meals, and life at home can be uncertain.
Families often do not have access or means to provide academic activities at home for their children. Play doh is utilized in our classroom for many different activities from building number to words, and even landforms. Having journals, writing paper, crayons, pencils, glue, and scissors will help ease the stress that comes with learning at home. Please help me provide them with the essentials to continue their learning in their homes.
