Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our students come from a variety of different economic backgrounds with over 80% of our students receiving free or reduced-price lunch. Our school is also ethnically diverse. Students speak a multitude of languages including English, Spanish, Hindi, Bengali, and Arabic.
As diverse as our students are economically and culturally, they are also diverse in their academics.
Our grade level currently supports thirty plus students on individualized education plans, for which we must differentiate to meet the needs of all students.
My Project
Working from home has been a struggle. Right now I am working from home using a used Mac mini with an old tv monitor. The plus sign and equal sign no longer work on my keyboard which makes it difficult to write equations for my students in math class.
I am also having audio issues which make me sound as though I am echoing whenever I am going from the main session to a break out room on Zoom.
I also am unable to share audio and have my students be able to hear it without an echo.
A new laptop and AirPods would help me to be able to communicate better with my students during my Zoom lessons and be able to show them videos without them not being able to hear it clearly. Right now there is not a date set to go back to the building, so this would be so helpful. Once we are back in the building, I can use this as a student station where students can use it to learn using online programs.
