Pine Forest is a very diverse student population. We are spread across the spectrum of highly rich doctor's and layer's children to children who barely have a home. School is "home"or the safety net of their lives. Within this range we have a little from all areas of students that come to art class. At least 5 students come to us for help with purchasing supplies that are required for the course.
Many of our students, who really work hard, no matter their background or home life do make something of themselves.
We are wanting to help these students become the best they can by equipping them with the materials that they need to continue their journey to a better life. My biggest goal is to teach these students that being creative innovative thinkers will help them in anything they do in their lives. These students appreciate the extra effort we put forth to give them something nice, when they do not always have someone that is able or willing to help them out at home.
My Project
We are trying to get new desks in the art classroom. These desks would aid our student in creating their art. Currently, we have the hand me down science tables in both art classrooms. The tables we have now are falling apart and missing parts of the surfaces. Students are having to use drawing boards to draw on many of the tables because of the surfaces have become so bad. We have resurfaced them a few times, and still they have gauges and grooves in them. The students would benefit from new tables that are meant for art so they can draw and work on dependable, smooth furniture.
Our kids should not have to worry about the a table falling on them in class.
These table's legs are beginning to not hold the bolts, and flip. If you know these old science tables they are top heavy!
