This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I always seem to get the sweetest class ever! I have about 17 first graders, 12 are boys and 5 are girls.
We are a Title I school, which means that the majority of the students come from low-income households.
Our school receives free breakfast, lunch, and snack daily. I'm the only teacher in the classroom. My students enjoy coming to school every day. Their favorite part of the day is when they get to read a book to their teacher.
We have so much fun in my class, and the kids love to learn! Please help me to teach them in fun and engaging ways.
My Project
My students have to attend the remainder of their school year virtually due to COVID-19. This is very challenging as students do not have access to the necessary materials as they do at school. They have less access to books, manipulatives, writing materials, and worksheets.
My students need fun and engaging workbooks that will supplement my virtual lessons.
After reading a story, my first graders can then answer questions, about the story, out of their reading comprehension workbook. I could read aloud an addition word problem and students could draw a picture, in their math workbook, to answer the question. These books would also be helpful to parents as the books guide the reader through the directions of each activity.
