There are two groups of 3rd grade students who are in my classroom. They are wonderful students in a Dual Language Immersion program in a community school that is made up of 42% English Language Learners and 70% low-income students.
My students LOVE learning and being able to express their own creativity and identities.
They are creative, caring and innovative students who get excited about school. The mix of talents, cultures and languages makes it a rich group of young learners.
My students need stationary bicycle desks to release energy in order to be able to focus on the lesson or activity. Many students lose valuable class time by getting up and walking around the room or going to get a drink of water because they feel the need to be active. The challenge of every educator is to balance instructional time while also attending to the needs of each student.
The stationary bicycle desk will be used as an option for students who need to be in motion in order to focus better in class and as a reward for students who are working well and want to sit in the special desk.
Every one of my third graders has so much energy and loved the idea of these desks in the room.
