Work Out, Work Out! Getting Pre-K Ready for Exercise
My students need outside playground accessories to help with fine motor skills. With my students having developmental delays, the outside equipment with increase strength.
My students are from a low-income school district that face many challenges every day in and out of the classroom. They face those challenges with a positive attitude and always willing to learn and try something new. With that, I want to be able to have my students know that school is a safe learning place that offers a variety of different learning opportunities. As an anonymous author stated, "All children can learn just not on the same day or the same way." I want to help my students learn their potential to be successful.
Students in my classroom have learning and emotional disabilities but come to school with a smile each day ready to learn as if it is the first day all over again.
Due to socioeconomic status, all of the students in the school get free breakfast and lunch every day. My students may have struggles, but I know that in my classroom they are #1 and will be taught as such!
My Project
My students love going to the playground. As we share the playground with other grades, we need some items that are for our students. In order to help with fine motor skills, the balls will help in gripping. On another note, the basketball hoop and bean bag toss will help with fine motor and eye hand coordination.
My students love to play outside, and with the playground equipment, they will be able to learn in diverse ways.
The sand toys will help my students learn different ways that sand can feel and maneuver in different manipulatives. The easy catch ball will help those who need the extra eye hand coordination when catching items. The rope is to help guide them safely to and from the playground so they know to stay with the teacher.
Playground time is a time that my students look forward to everyday. They know our schedule and get excited when we go out. I feel these items will help them get better exercise as they will have more to help build their skills.
