Our students love learning!
They are kind and respectful to their peers and the teachers.
The students have high academic goals and work hard to achieve them while also trying to acquire the English language.
We are largely ESOL populated. Our ESOL babies are from La Piadad, Mexico. We are a Title I school and 100% of our EL's receive free breakfast and lunch.
Our biggest challenge is finding funds and resources to provide to extra support for extra curricular clubs and teams that our students need to be competitive in their academic careers.
My students learning English as a second language need an environment that is literacy rich. Labels, diagrams, charts etc... help reinforce the language that the students are working to acquire. A Cricut Maker gives you the ability to make beautiful and fun words for the classroom! In addition, this machine can also be used to create our class t-shirts as well as holiday crafts and gifts the students can make.
Cricut helps you get organized too!
You can cut out vinyl to label everything from your teacher toolbox to your clipboard or even label various areas or walls in the classroom so students know the expectation for that spot. Your classroom library? Yes, you can even cut vinyl to label all of your book boxes!
And since we are required to show the standards we address in our classroom, teachers can cut out some vinyl and affix it to the whiteboard. This way you have the basics up there each day and all you have to do is add the particularly standards or objectives that are being covered that day.
A Cricut Maker would help me to reinforce the new vocabulary that my English Learners need to learn.
