My Students

Many of my students are entering our school for the first time. They are diverse learners whose needs vary. They are all ESL learners as well as students with disabilities.

My students spend most of their day in a self-contained classroom, with the support of various teachers, learning how to read, write, and complete math tasks, as well as becoming good citizens.

Together, we will work to make our classroom a true community environment where everyone feels safe, welcomed, important, and accepted.

My Project

Many students within my classroom are on the ASD spectrum. They are working toward their grade level standards but are often held back due to their shyness with their peers. I would like to provide my students with new learning centers where they can work on academic skills and how to interact with their peers. Student could practice taking turns, reading to their partner, and problem solve. These centers would also provide more structure to centers and allow skills to be built on as they come with multiple levels. Learning to read is challenging; being able to do it while building friendships make it even more special.
