My students are true representations of young teenagers of the 21st century and of South Florida. They are exuberant, polite, kind young people who want to learn about how to succeed in life.
My students motivate me to get to work early and to be a better teacher for them!
This year, they have embarked on a business club whose first venture is providing a coffee service to their teachers three days a week. They hold meetings twice a week and show up before 8 AM on the other three to prepare and serve coffee, hot chocolate, and tea. Their commitment inspires me daily!
My Project
No student enjoys reading the text book! Their inquisitive, intelligent minds seek more stimulation. Using novels and nonfiction that convey information in an interesting way is a GREAT way to show that critical thinking and reading isn't always boring.
The authors and books will help students connect abstract concepts to actual skills as they work in departmental teams of a virtual firm.
As they explore the tasks of the curriculum, the selected texts will serve as additional reading that will inform about the industry or department. Additionally, it will serve as a team building exercise as they discuss ideas garnered.
