Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

When I think about my students I think about vocabulary. I was a reading teacher last year, so I noticed my students needed to improve their vocabularies. This year I will have my own fourth grade class and one of my goals for them is to expose them to new words that will help them express themselves better. Knowing big, long, "meaty" words will improve the confidence of my students. They live in the South Bronx where one of our biggest challenges is a lack of exposure and background knowledge. It is my mission to give my students a world class education. I need a book called "A Word a Day" this book offers a systematic approach to learning vocabulary. Of course we will cover many words in the regular classroom curriculum, however, I think they need something more. It's very exciting to teach and offer this exciting new experience to my students. Won't you help to make this happen? I know they will appreciate it very much.
