Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students come from mostly low income families. They have so many challenges that they face at home but when they come into my classroom I create a warm, loving, and welcoming environment where they all free to be themselves. My classroom consists of 24 inquisitive, creative, and joyful Kindergarten students. My students have a joy for learning that I help them grow through engaging hands on activities and exposure to literature. I love that my students love to show everyone what they have learned in class.

My Project

These materials will be used to help reinforce the skills students are taught in class. They will be used in small groups and centers after blending, segmenting, and isolating letter sounds skills have been taught to students.

Students will use the magnetic letters to build CVC words and words with long vowels, digraphs, and blends.

The sentence strips will be used to practice reading and comprehension. The Hot Dots will be a fun way for students to practice skills that will let them self correct themselves. Everyone loves technology and using the Hot Dots will have students thinking they are playing while practicing skills.
