Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students come in everyday wanting to learning, craving to learn, even though it is challenging. I teach K-2nd special education. My students are from diverse backgrounds and have a range of educational needs. My students face many challenges on a daily basis including learning disabilities, emotional struggles, and attention deficits. Most of my students are English Language Learners and over 75% of the school population receives free lunch. My students learn best through engaging and rigorous hands-on experiences. I strive to create a nurturing, enriched learning environment where students feel empowered to workout their brain through working on challenging activities.
My Project
My students LOVE to learn, especially when they are given the opportunity to explore and learn with hands-on materials. You can catch my students doing this during Daily 5 time. Daily 5 provides my students with a chance to work independently on a variety of different reading and writing skills. This was the first year we implemented Daily 5. My students need more learning tools to meet all of their academic needs, which span across three different grade levels. The requested resources and activities will help to provide my students with writing, phonics, and sight word practice.
This will help strengthen their writing and reading skills, which will empower my students to read and write with confidence and build their stamina!
