My classroom is a mix of students with special education needs and general education students. All my students' needs are vast, but they love to learn and they work very hard. They want to grow as students, as well as individuals. They are a class of individuals with many different learning styles and needs.
My students are learners and they try their hardest to be the best students they can.
However, many of them have learning disabilities or speech and language delays. They learn in many different ways and have many different needs. Many of them come from low, socio-economic homes and school is their safety net. We are a Title I school where all of our students receive free lunch. It's a place where they feel safe and cared for.
My Project
As a special educator, many of my students come to me reading below grade level. We need materials to close the gap. We need manipulatives like letter tiles to meet the needs of our students. We want students to get the fundamentals of English language arts. We need reading intervention materials to use during school group instruction.
We want fun and engaging English Language Art centers filled with exciting games and other center activities!
Our goal is for all of our students to make gains in reading and word recognition. We want to enforce the five principals of literacy: phonological awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary and reading comprehension!
