My Students

We are a First Grade class looking for new ways to learn every day! We are located at a Title I school in Kentucky. As a Title I school we have many different students come to us with many different learning styles.

This is going to be their second year experiencing school, and I want them to be in a fun, innovative, and structured learning environment.

We believe in ourselves and work toward success everyday! We are so thankful for donors like you!

My Project

My school has adopted an entirely new guided reading instructional strategy this year based on the book "The Next Steps in Guided Reading" by Jan Richardson. (She's my QUEEN!) I am short on the supplies that are needed to implement the lessons in my classroom. With these word cards and magnetic letters students will be able to work on phonics and word knowledge. Some of our favorites that we have been working with are digraphs, initial and final blends, and long vowel dipthong teams. This might seem overwhelming to you, but with these reading tools first grade students will make all these spelling stages a breeze to learn.
