My Students
My classroom consists of twenty-five fourth graders with a variety of learning styles. They are excited to learn each day and love to try new strategies and approaches to learning. We are a part of a kindergarten through fifth grade public elementary school. We are also a school of the arts and my students love to incorporate visual arts, music, drama, and dance into our daily learning of academic content. We are a Title I school and many of my students do not have access to education resources outside of school. Introducing them to a variety of educational resources at this young age gives them the opportunity to develop skills they will use throughout their academic and professional careers.
My Project
Writing in our classroom occurs on a regular basis and across all subjects. Whether it is responding to a real-world application problem in math, describing the phases of the moon, retelling stories about life in the New World, or writing an opinion piece. These dictionaries will give my students the opportunities to look up new words to deepen their understanding of the term and apply it in new ways. Writing is an important way for students to reflect upon their learning and my students need access to dictionaries to strengthen their writing skills. Donations to this project will help my students develop the foundational writing skills they will need to carry with them into the real world.
