I teach kindergarten students in an under-resourced area of Yonkers. My class size is usually around 24, but I can have up to 28 students at any time. The majority of my students are English Language Learners.
Kindergarteners are always very eager to learn and enjoy learning by doing!
They come in very curious and are like sponges, soaking up huge amounts of information fairly quickly. They love to dance and sing and I introduce various genres of music to them early on.
Many of them come to me knowing very little English and they show a huge appreciation for me as their teacher. My students are creative, thoughtful, and caring. They are always willing to learn something new and enjoy challenges!
It's February and my kindergartners are getting so excited about reading! They are beginning to write simple sentences on their own and light up when they are able to sound words out by themselves. These CVC builder activity cards will help them to get even more excited about reading! They can use them independently or during center time. The tri-blocks tub that goes along with this set, is great practice for their fine motor skills. They are multi-sensory and hands-on! They will love snapping these pieces together to make new words. Recently, I had a project funded for chair organizers and have since received 5 more students. I am hoping to be able to get additional ones for my class.
