I sponsor National Junior Honor Society at school. We have happy, energetic, willing, helpful students. The kids earn service hours for volunteering their time and help to the community. We are going to make cozy blankets for those in need.
My Project
The fleece blanket kits will make a difference in the students learning by teaching them to be caring, thoughtful, and aware of the community they live in.
The fleece blankets will be donated to local nursing homes and foster homes for kids in need of warm and cuddly blanket.
Our National Junior Honor Society students have regular virtual meetings through the Teams" app. Since Covid-19 we are unable to meet together as a group, this has enabled us to still meet and make plans to volunteer with different community activities. For example, on Halloween the students volunteered at the special needs students, "trunk- or -treat" it was a big success. The kids earned 3 service hours, there is a required amount of service hours to be a member of NJHS and have good grades.
This activity of making fleece blankets as a group to give to those in need will teach the kids work together, be responsible, an become aware of the needs of others, while giving something to the community and learning how valuable all people are.
