My students need an Epson 2650 printer with color ink to print books they write and illustrate.

I teach 5/6-year-olds at a high poverty Title I school. They receive free breakfast and lunch at our school. Many of my students come in never having picked up a book or even having one read to them because they don't have access to literature. So many times I ask them, "Who reads to you at home?" Their answer? "No one".
Once I put a book in their hands their faces light up and they beg to have more stories read to them.
They want to know when we are going to the library so they can get that special new book they've wanted to bring home. However, going to the library once a week is not enough. These young students are eager to learn and become authors and illustrators themselves.
When I was young I loved having my favorite books read over and over to me. The students in my class don't get these opportunities at home because most of their homes don't have books. My students' favorite time of the day is fluency time when I'm reading stories to them. They are eager to write their own books and share them with classmates and parents. In order to keep their love of learning ignited, my students write their own stories on class iPads. However, we no longer have a printer to print them with. After books are printed and put together (published) we will have a special author’s tea several times throughout the year for them to practice using voice inflection, expression, rhythm, and rhyme, when presenting their story. We will also have classroom book talks where students can share their stories they've published for feedback. The students will also be reviewing literary skills (characters, setting, identifying the problem in the story, main idea).
