My students are innovative and the next generation of leaders. They are curious and spunky. They are passionate and bold. They crave learning in new ways and are eager to explore. They learn best when they try, fail and then try again. I dare to be different with my teaching approach. When kids are in charge of their learning, the results are endless.
The beauty of my classroom is there are so many shining stars because each excels at something different and it is my job to find that one thing each person can do.
My students range in academic levels. Many come from a military background, as we are a coastal school near a military base. Forty percent of my students receive free or reduced price lunch and have many of their basic needs met at school.
My Project
The children of the world books will allow my students the opportunity to see what children look like all around the world.
Not only will my students be provided with authentic photographs, they will get to explore similarities and differences to children all around the world.
The books will also teach my students about the wonders of the world outside of the United States.
The wonders of the world books will provide real learning experiences with appropriate leveled text and photographs to enhance student learning. These photographs and books will give my students an opportunity for meaningful conversations about the world around them.
