My Students

I am blessed to teach at such an incredible elementary school where there is a family atmosphere. Children in my classroom are eager, enthusiastic, and always wanting to share what they are learning. One third of our students come from low poverty income. We do not qualify for any additional state funds, so I appreciate the opportunity to use DonorsChoose.org to help meet the needs of my first graders. My classroom consists of a diverse population that strive on differentiated learning.

My Project

My students need a well bound primary tablet to write creative stories in during writers workshop.

Students in First Grade benefit from lined paper with a red baseline to ensure proper alignment and form during writing.

The use of a Mead Primary Journal allows students to write and illustrate their masterpieces. Students in First Grade are creative writers who use various genres of writing. Having a bound journal provides less chance of losing writing pieces and gives each child ownership of their work. Students in my first grade classroom have the opportunity to write each and everyday. We follow the writers workshop process.
