I’m a speech therapist at a Title I school in an urban area. I’ve been at the same school for over 25 years and serve over 50 children. Even though my job gets more challenging every year due to my students’ needs continuing to increase, I stay because of all the amazing kids I get to work with.
Even though a large portion of my children can’t speak and have significant physical and medical concerns, every one of them perseveres to find a way to communicate, even if it’s a facial expression or giggle.
They challenge and encourage me every day. But mostly, they make me smile every day, in person and virtually!
My Project
Our students are getting ready to go home for a well-deserved winter break! I would love to be able to give them these language-based learning cards to use while they are at home.
I don't want their language skills to freeze-up over the break!
These educational tools are the perfect gift to send home with the children. They are small and portable, as well as fun! These are easy games and activities the children and their families can do together. Not only will this allow the children an opportunity to practice their skills at home, it will help the parents to see what they are working on and how they perform.
