Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students in New Orleans East are curious and enthusiastic learners. Even with a virtual start to the year, they begin each day ready to learn and grow. They are problem solvers that are always up for a challenge.

We are proud to be a diverse school with a high population of English language learners.

New Orleans East is a historically underserved area, and our students deserve the same opportunity to have a high-quality education with all necessary tools.

My Project

This project would provide a whiteboard, marker, and eraser to every K-5 student at our school. These whiteboards would be used during all content areas including English Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies. Students would be able to practice spelling, writing, and work out math problems.

Whiteboards help create a culture where mistakes are celebrated.

Students are able to erase as needed and fix their mistakes as they go. This also allows for teachers to quickly check student work and in turn provide prompt feedback. Both teachers and students benefit from whiteboard usage in the classroom.
