Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We are a small school with a diverse population. We have students who come from households with a laptop for everyone in the home, and we have those who don't have access to a laptop or the internet. My students are creative, bright, innovative, and technology driven 21st-century thinkers. My students are very enthusiastic about learning new things, love coming to school, are problem solvers, and always come to school eager to tackle new and challenging projects. They thrive on creative projects that require higher-level thinking skills and cooperative learning.
My Project
My students are in their 2nd year of the Wonder Workshop competition and we really need a second mat. My robot teams use the mat on a rotating schedule, but we are always short on time and it would be more efficient to have a second mat. This would allow two teams to work on coding their robots at the same time. My students made the final invitational round this year and are currently in the process of completing the mission in time for the April deadline. It has been difficult to give all teams sufficient time with the mat, since only one team can use the mat at a time. After the deadline for this competition passes, Wonder Workshop may add one quick competition with the new CUE robot. We would like to be ready for this end of the year competition or at the very least be ready for next year!
