My Students

My students are so eager to try new things! Having a new classroom book of a popular novel to study together will provide opportunities for students to connect, be engaged with materials that are relevant and continue to practice all of their reading skills that they have attained throughout the school year. My students come from a rural community and are very flexible and adaptable, but always willing to strive to become readers and push themselves with new and challenging books.

My Project

I am in need of a new novel study to teach my seventh graders that is engaging and relevant and connects to the majority of the English standards. I also need the novel to serve as a review and enticing end of the year activity to do.

The novel study I choose was "Wonder", as this book became a very high interest of our seventh graders last year and there are only 3 copies of it in our school library.

This novel study not only ties together a lot of the reading skills and standards that are addressed and practiced throughout the year, but it also addresses character and life skills at an level of understanding that truly connects to junior high students and what common things students can face.
