My Students

Take a diet of academics, add a heap of friendship, a toss of movement, a dash of fun, a pinch of laughter, a splash of music and art, a bunch of academics, and mix it all up and you get my class!

I have 28 interested readers who have loved reading Wonder as they connected to many of the struggles characters went through, lessons learned, reading and word skills practiced, end of the unit projects created and above all, practice the moral: choose KIND.

Coming from various languages, ethnicities, and countries, we have a shared love for science, challenges that help us grow, thinking through problems, creating memories, developing smiles, and continuously learning. Our school has a great community around it - very supportive!

My Project

5th Graders in our school read Wonder, think and analyze it, and then create a group project with technology to delve into the book.

The students in class realize that we all are WONDERS, for a plethora of reasons.

Giving them the book to follow along and read gives meaning to words, power to examples, and teaches them skills of inferencing and character analysis in their own time and pace.

Being able to reference the book, the quotes, the author's words, and the realistic fiction example will empower them, build their reading skills, and strengthen their realistic fiction and narrative writing skills.
