My Students

"Don't judge a book by its cover." This is such an important concept because our students in fourth grade come from a variety of socioeconomic backgrounds and cultures. Working in a Title I school has introduced us to the most amazing and resilient students. Students who work hard despite the tough circumstances they face outside of school. Students who are sometimes forced to grow up too quickly as they face trauma and family disruptions.

Our students may not have the newest clothes or the latest supplies and gadgets, but we all come together to form a fourth-grade family.

We strive to learn as much as we can in the short time we have together and really highlight the impact their personal choices can make on their success.

My Project

We believe all kids are wonders! What a better way for our students to discover that they are a wonder than to read the text "Wonder" with their fourth-grade family.

We want our kids to know that they were born to stand out, and with this book we can build a classroom culture of kindness, uniqueness, and acceptance.

This project will fund not only one class but a whole grade level of students for years to come. Initially, it will provide reading material for over one hundred students, however, the real number of students impacted will be exponential. Please help!
