My Students

Each child in my classroom absolutely loves learning, although the method and environment in which they learn best vary greatly. We incorporate a variety of learning strategies, group work, and alternative seating and learning options to ensure that each student's needs are met, right where they are!

Curious, enthusiastic, and creative are words I use to describe my students.

They are truly an incredible group, and I am so lucky and thankful to have this group of learners that are excited and ready to learn.

My Project

Individual copies of the book Wonder and will allow the students to read at their own pace and reread. The book will be used to teach our reading curriculum. We will begin the new year learning about common themes in literature-- Always be a little bit kinder than necessary, be yourself, choose friendship over popularity and doing what is right is almost always harder than doing what is easy, are a few themes the students will discover in this novel. We will also practice reading fluency and identifying symbolism. We will make connections with the main characters to other characters, to ourselves, and to the world. Through the book, we will be able to identify the 4 main types of conflicts found in literature. Finally, we will be able to grow and learn with the rich characters found in this wonderful story, setting the perfect tone for the rest of the year.
