Help me give my students Lego Women in NASA kits, space vehicle Lego sets, full Lego sets, and a variety of biographies and other nonfiction texts about women in STEM!

In the school science programs, we strive to use all available materials and supports to help our students grow and thrive in a rigorous educational environment that is aligned to the general education curriculum.
My students are active, inquisitive, hard-working middle school students who have autism. While it is sometimes a struggle for them to access a traditional curriculum, our school works diligently to help them acquire academic and social skills that are as close as possible to grade level. We adapt the curriculum to their individual needs by using visuals, manipulatives, and other hands-on supports and activities on a daily basis and they thrive at our school. The teaching staff and administration work together to come up with creative ways to make certain that all learners do well in our program and receive the education they deserve.
My Project
This full, leveled collection of biographies of female scientists, astronauts, mathematicians, and engineers will engage students in reading, writing, math, and science as they learn about the women, such as Mae Jemison and Sally Ride, who have made space exploration a reality. Students will then get to apply their learning with engineering projects of their own. The addition of Women in NASA Lego Kits and ample Lego building materials and space vehicles provide hands-on engagement in STEM-based learning. My students will plan, design, build, and strategize as they also learn about under-represented people in STEM careers! All of these materials and texts will serve to engage and educate my students across numerous content areas and expose them to new faces in STEM.
