This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
The elementary school students at my school are unlike students anywhere else in the world. They are uniquely wonderful in all aspects of their being. They attend a Title I school in a rural area of North Carolina.
In the past year, our school has implemented an intervention block, club day, and AVID, broadening our student experiences and creating new and exciting learning opportunities.
Our goals this year are especially targeted on closing the achievement gap through access to materials and resources.
My Project
My students will use their picture books to see the impact that women have made in the world. As part of our Women's History Month celebration, students will use these books to research, learn, and study about the contributions of women and how they are changing the world. These materials will make a difference to my students by giving them access and knowledge of modern women and understanding that the fight for women's rights is the same in U.S. as it is in the rest of the world. This will improve the school lives of my students by helping them to develop a point-of-view about why we celebrate Women's History Month.
